“Individual Development for International Development”
Creative Communities is a YGAP initiative that aims to empower young Australians by harnessing and further developing their individual skill sets and inclinations for positive social change concerning global issues and in turn, fostering meaningful self development and awareness.
Creative Communities offers the opportunity to establish partnerships and build networks with other committed individuals, as to create and implement exciting and innovative fundraising projects. The profits from such are directed towards the construction and maintenance of a school in Bangladesh for 300 children, executed through YGAP’s on-the-ground partner organisation CO-ID (Co-operation in Development), specialists in providing educational facilities for disadvantaged and remote youth. Thus, Creative Communities seeks to actively engage young, motivated persons and challenge them to explore their own voice, passion and purpose in a practical and
personal manner concerning the realm of social entrepreneurship and humanitarian affairs.
Volunteer participants will experience sessions in group environment that promotes higher learning and thought, skill-sharing and meaningful dialogue, specifically encompassing:
· Aid and Development – Case Studies and Theory
· Individual Inquiry, Philosophy and the Ethics of Giving
· Event Management
· Risk Management
· Fundraising
· Communications and Proposals
A notable achievement of 2009 saw the first pilot group of Creative Communities participants successfully create and run multiple fundraisers; generating profit for the construction of a school on Bhola Island, Bangladesh in January 2010, via YGAP’s partner organisation, CO-ID.
