Kinfolk

“A place where simple choices contribute to the wellbeing of people and planet.”

Kinfolk is a social enterprise café with a unique twist – whilst serving healthy produce and quality espresso, all profits are directed to international and local development projects. Kinfolk is located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD (673 Bourke St, Melbourne), open 7am-3pm Monday to Friday.

YGAP proudly gave birth to Kinfolk in 2009, which commenced trading in May 2010.  Since, Kinfolk has evolved into an independent organisation providing a place where talented individuals can contribute to a range of community and development projects through their shared passion for delectable coffee and culinary excellence.

At the point of sale customers are invited to vote with a coffee bean as to where their support shall go, with the choice of supporting:

i.         YGAP’s youth education project in Rwanda;

ii.        YGAP’s youth leadership project in Ghana;

iii.       Cathy Freeman Foundation’s education-focused project for young Indigenous Australians; or

iv.       Urban Seed’s Credo Café supporting inclusion for Melbourne’s homeless and marginalized
people.

A key ingredient of Kinfolk is that it thrives with the assistance of a team of eccentric, loveable and dedicated volunteer wait-staff. With them, they bring energy and enthusiasm that money cannot buy.
